Collie Smith is a Vice President for Akamai Technologies, an S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 technology company focused on making the Internet fast, reliable, and secure. He leads a cross functional team of over 100 sales and services professionals whose mission is to provide the technology that optimizes and secures the delivery of all online content and business applications in the Commerce Industries in North America.
Collie has been at Akamai since 1999 when the company launched its first commercial products and has had a number of different management roles in business development, channels and sales. Collie moved back to Atlanta from Akamai's HQ in Cambridge, MA in 2001 to open Akamai's Atlanta office which employs 70 people and will grow to over 100 employees by the end of 2015. From 2008 to 2013, Collie managed Akamai's Eastern North American Commerce business and drove rapid adoption of Akamai's performance, security and mobile solutions. Collie has had an integral role in two acquisitions for Akamai in the mobile and commerce space. Prior to Akamai, Collie worked for IBM in the Media and Entertainment division for 5 years in both Atlanta and New York City.Collie is an Atlanta native. He attended Walton High School and has a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University with a double major in Economics and Psychology. He is an avid fly fisherman, golfer and snowboarder. Collie resides in Atlanta with his wife Jennifer and their two children. He also coaches baseball at the Northside Youth Organization (NYO).
